Benban solar park wins World Bank best project award

The Benban Solar Park in Egypt’s Aswan has won a best-project annual award by the World Bank Group.

This is the first time Egypt has won the World Bank award, said Investment Minister Sahar Nasr in a statement Wednesday, noting that the solar energy project in the Upper Egyptian city reflects the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two sides.

It comes as part of World Bank support for Egyptian economic reform programs and government plans to enhance the role played by the private sector in achieving comprehensive development, Nasr added.

Enerray is installing three projects, part of the Benban Solar Park, for a total capacity of 116 MWp. The three projects are financed by the World Bank Group.
